As a young woman in her early 20s, working as a dyed blonde under the name Diane Belmont, Lucille's image was used to sell everything from make-up to soda and ale to cigarettes.

By the early 1930s, Lucille Ball was lighting up the screen in motion pictures with her debut as a blonde Goldwyn Girl in the movie Roman Scandals (1933). In total, Lucille Ball starred in 75 movies!  By 1939, Lucille's hair had changed to a brunette.  Her first screen appearance with Desi Arnaz was in Too Many Girls (1940).  Desi and Lucy were 8 years apart in age.

Interesting note, Lucille Ball dyed her hair red.  Her natural hair color was brunette.
